Diversity in political agendas as an extra-media standard of comparison
Subproject 2 examines the diversity of political agendas in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, which serves as an extra-media benchmark of comparison. Various documents and forms of self-representation of political players – such as press releases of the government and parliamentary factions and relevant parliamentary activities – are analyzed, as are forms of self-representation of other key players in the broader political landscape like unions, initiatives and associations. To facilitate this comparison, the codebook for the media analysis was developed according to the research questions in WP 3. By comparing the political agenda with media coverage, this study aims to answer the question of whether and in which form the topics deemed relevant by key players in the political system are incorporated in media coverage.
